When should I use this tool?

PDF Editor gives you a complete browser-based editing workspace for any PDF document. Upload a file and the tool renders every page at high resolution using MuPDF WebAssembly. You can add text in any size and color, draw freehand with a pen tool, and insert rectangles, ellipses, and straight lines with customizable stroke and fill. The eraser lets you white out sensitive information or unwanted content. You can insert images such as logos, stamps, or photos directly onto the page. Every action supports undo so mistakes are easy to fix. The editor includes zoom controls from twenty-five percent to three-hundred percent for precise placement. Page navigation lets you move between pages in multi-page documents. When you are done, the export function merges your annotations onto the original PDF and produces a clean file ready to share. The entire process runs in your browser. No data leaves your device.

  • Add missing text to a PDF form before sending it.
  • Draw arrows and circles to highlight sections in a report.
  • Erase sensitive information from a scanned document.
  • Insert a company logo or stamp onto every page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text inside a PDF?

This tool adds a visual overlay on top of the original PDF content. It does not modify the underlying text stream. You can place new text over existing text to replace visible content. You can also use the eraser to white out areas and then type replacement text. This approach works well for correcting typos, updating dates, and changing short labels. For structural editing of the internal text objects inside a PDF you would need a desktop application like Adobe Acrobat. However, for most everyday corrections and annotations this overlay method gives fast, accurate results without installing software or uploading files.

Does this tool upload my PDF to a server?

No. The entire editing process runs locally inside your web browser. Your PDF file is read by the browser using MuPDF compiled to WebAssembly. Pages are rendered as images on a local HTML5 canvas. Annotations are drawn on a transparent overlay canvas. When you export, the overlay merges onto the original pages using pdf-lib, which also runs client-side. No file data, no page images, and no annotation content leaves your device at any point. This makes the tool safe for confidential contracts, medical records, financial statements, legal filings, and any document you would not want on a third-party server.

What types of annotations can I add?

The toolbar provides eight annotation tools. The text tool lets you click anywhere and type. Font size and color are adjustable. The draw tool works like a freehand pen for signatures and handwriting. The eraser paints a white rectangle to cover content. The rectangle and ellipse tools create outlined or filled shapes for highlighting areas. The line tool draws straight arrows or dividers. The image tool lets you insert a PNG, JPG, or SVG image such as a company logo or stamp. Every annotation supports undo. You can clear all annotations on a page at once. Zoom controls let you work at up to three-hundred percent magnification for precision.

Can I edit multi-page PDFs?

Yes. The editor loads every page of your PDF and lets you navigate between them using the page controls in the bottom bar. Annotations are stored per page so edits on page three do not affect page one. You can zoom in on any page independently. When you click Export PDF the tool processes all pages. Pages without annotations pass through unchanged. Pages with annotations get the overlay merged on top. The resulting file keeps the original page dimensions and content intact. This approach handles documents of any reasonable length. Reports, manuals, contracts with dozens of pages all work. Each page renders at high resolution for crisp editing.
